La Locomotora - Crianza 2014/2015, RP 87
Origin |
La Rioja, Spain |
Alc. |
11% |
Volume |
750ml |
Grapes |
100% Tempranillo |
Tasting Note |
"The 2014 La Locomotora Crianza is pure Tempranillo from Briones. After a six-day cold soak, uncrushed grapes fermented with natural yeasts in stainless steel, followed by malolactic in stainless steel. The wine matured in French oak barrels, 10% new, for 12 months. I tasted from three bottles and they were all quite reductive, with strong animal aromas of wet fur, singed leather, cured meat, smoke and licorice. The palate is very polished, light to medium-bodied, easy and approachable. 29,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2017.."

Tasting Note |
Beautiful and pale yellow in colour. On the nose it shows delicate white stone fruit aromas with subtle white flowers and dry lemon peel hints and a touch of light toasted oak reminiscent of its barrel aging. On the palate possesses a silky, rounded and very elegant texture. Delicate notes of yellow fruits such as apricot and ripe peach as well as a good freshness provides a right balance. Clean, pure and persistent aftertaste.
