When people talk about the UK, what would you think about? Probably their signature fish and chips, and beers to go with it! However, beer is not the favourite alcoholic beverage in the UK! What would it be? Wine! Voila!

A new research in the UK revealed that 32% of UK adult drinkers say that wine is their favourite alcoholic drink, beating beer (25%), and spirits (25%). This is surprising news indeed because I also thought the Brits love their beers!

The research also revealed that crispy dry white wines like Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc are very popular among the UK. The bold full-bodied red wines like Malbec and Shiraz take the 2nd place. This is another surprising discovery since red wines seem to be a lot more popular than white wines in Hong Kong.

Although this research didn’t go into the preferences of vintage / aging, there were other studies showing that young wines are very popular among the UK and Europe.
