Eric's Empreinte De Terroir series is designed to showcase the unique character of his Grand Cru Ambonnay vineyard in a single vintage - in this case, the generously textured and very easy to love 2005 harvest. From 30 year-old Pinot Noir vines, it is 100% barrel fermented and aged and spends 8 years on the lees before disgorgement with just 2 g/l dosage. |

Tasting Notes |
Disgorged in December 2016, the 2005 Brut Pinot Noir Empreinte de Terroir offers up an attractive bouquet of buttered yellow orchard fruit and mandarin, with a subtle framing of new oak. On the palate, it's full-bodied, broad and vinous, with a textural attack, chewy structuring extract and a fleshy core of fruit, concluding with a nicely defined finish. This is a definite success in a challenging Champagne vintage. Score: 91, William Kelley, RobertParker.com, April 2019 |
