One of the best base cuvees out there is easily the 2007 Châteauneuf du Pape from Janasse. This crazy good wine (which was a smoking value on release) offers terrific freshness and purity as well as full-bodied richness, sweet tannin, notes of dark berry fruits, sappy herbs and pepper and a huge mid-palate.
